Rain Gutters for Barn Solve Water Run Off Problem

Water run off from structures causes trouble. Both at the site and down hill.

The more roof tops, the more run off.

Rain harvesting is highly encouraged in the Rio Verde Foothills to lesson the amount of water that runs down hill during rain storms.

The next best thing to rain harvesting is directing water to washes that have been lined with check-damns to slow the water down. Why slow it down? To give it a little more time to soak into the earth, instead of just washing down hill.

Here we’ve created a custom rain gutter for a barn.

Problem: Unable to install normal rain gutters that require multiple downspouts. Rain needed to be directed to opposite side of barn through one underground pipe on east side of barn due to other underground issues on west side of barn.

Solution: Creating a larger gutter capable of carrying water from entire roof area to one downspout area.

Made of metal, this gutter will rust and blend in with the existing structure.

Attaching gutter from above, keeps the roof line clean and unencumbered.

Making a rain chain out of horseshoes created an interesting water element.
