Next Market: November 5th.

Last week the Troon North Farmers Market held their “bonus market” – there were just enough weeks in October and the days fell into place where we were able to have three markets in one month.

But it means that to keep to the schedule of holding the market on the first and third weeks of the month, that we’ll be back this weekend, November 5th and again on the 19th.

And on the 20th we’ll be at the Rio Verde Horseman’s Association Holiday Bazaar. Just take a drive further east on Dynamite to the Fire Station. Lots of local people will be there, with their unique items from jewelry to coffee and of course, Rio Verde Naturals!

And we’re looking forward to it! It’s so nice to see the snowbirds coming back to the valley and so many familiar faces at the market.

Quartz VeinThis weekend Rio Verde Naturals will have more of Carol’s latest cheese – Quartz Vein. We sold out of this cheese early in the day, so if you want some Quartz Vein you can either order it online or plan to be at the market early. Like all Rio Verde Natural products, supplies are limited!

Another new product is Carols Hibiscus Jelly. The plant in the garden is beautiful. We don’t have labels for the jelly yet, but we’re working on it!

Farmers Market Success and Label Art

The first market of the season was a success!

Early Morning Shoppers Troon North Farmers Market

The sudden change of venue just days before the first market had a few people searching for us, and we’re happy they did. The new market area has more parking and will hopefully make shopping easier. Look for the signs, the market is located about half way between Pima and Alma School on Dynamite at the Chase Bank center.

We were happy to see so many of our customers after the summer break and to hear how much you missed Carol’s cheeses, preserves and jams.

There are many new items to try, so mark your calendar for the next market, October 15th, 9am – 1pm.

Artwork for the Labels

Sue Wenger is the artist behind the beautiful water colors you see on our new labels. I think they are absolutely beautiful and have visions of the fruits and vegetables on everything from to note cards to fabric to coffee mugs and clocks. Sites like Cafe Press, Zazzle and Spoonflower make it possible. What do you think? Wouldn’t some of this look wonderful on a kitchen clock, as an apron or wrapping paper?

She’s working on the banner for our booth now. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with.

The weather should be cooler in two weeks, so remember a sweater, your hat and any empty jars you might have. Return them for $1.00 off your next purchase of any Rio Verde Naturals product!

New Location For Troon North Farmers Market

The lovely organizers of the Troon North Farmers Market have moved the location of the market.

The Troon North farmers Market has Moved!

But not far, so don’t worry.  Just down the west side of the hill, down Dynamite at the Chase Bank center.

We’re still on for october 1,st, starting at 9am. Carol has been super busy making cheese and Sue and I have been working on Labels and a Banner. Sue’s artwork is so beautiful, I want to turn it into gift cards and fabric for aprons. And the labels look great. Can’t wait for you all to see them!

So if you find yourself at the top of the hill and no one is around, get back in your car and head down the hill a little. The wonderful organizers promise to have lots of signage out, so watch for it!

New Labels, Artwork by Sue Wenger
We’ll be there with the new season of pickled okra and long beans, prickly pear jam, pomegranate sauce, fig preserves, and Lava sauce – with a triple X warning!

And of course she has other sweeties like tangerine jam, grapefruit jam, and my personal favorite, the Chilie Jelly.

Another new item is Carol’s Tomato Jam. This is the perfect condiment for a BLT made with Carol’s Smoked Pork Belly Bacon. Unfortunately we won’t have the smoked meats at the market (and we’re currently out of the Pork Beverly and Taos Ham), but it will perk up any BLT or meat sandwhich. It is also a great addition to a charcuterie board.

The weather should be great, but bring a hat and a sweater just in case. And your shopping bags!

Troon Farmers Market Around The Corner

The Troon North Farmers Market returns October 1st.

And we’ll be ready at 9am with all kinds of new goodies and the crowd favorites. Stop by and see our new products with their snazzy new labels.

Prickly Pear Sauce
Bread & Butter Pickles
Peach Jam
Goji Berry Jam
Fig Preserves
Pickled Green Beans

And so much more – stop by our booth and find out what else we’ve got on the shelves!

Carol has been busy making cheese. A new recipe has been “doing its thing” for a few weeks now and should be just about perfect come market time. Here’s what it looks like right now:

There is also a large selection of Luna and Stella available and the Rio Verde Rocks should be perfect for the first market.

If you can’t wait until October 2nd to get your goodies, visit the Rio Verde Naturals online store today.

Label Full Jams Tangerines SWWe’re Ready for the Market!

The weather is cooling down (or is giving us a break at the moment. I can’t remember a Labor Day weekend so *cool*) and Carol has been busy making all kinds of goodies.

The summer bounty has kept her in the garden most mornings, especially since we’ve not had much monsoon rain in the Rio Verde Foothills this summer.

Armenian cucumbers are the bumper crop so far. Carol hasn’t been able to keep up turning them into the sweet and sour pickles everyone loves so much, so we’ve been making fresh juice, mixing them with apples, ginger, turmeric, mint and lime. But don’t worry, there are plenty of pickles!

Long Bean Pickles are also ready. These are a new addition to the product line. We hope you like them!

Also on the shelves, until they’re gone:

Tangerine Jam
Peach Jam
Plumb Jam
Grapefruit Jam
Chile Jelly
Indian Spice Citrus Pickles
Grape Syrup

Stella GoatFresh Goat Milk Cheese

Carol just processed 25 gallons of Mad Goat Organic Milk, making her famous Rio Verde Dirty Balls, Luna and Stella varieties. She’s ready to try a few new recipes and is headed out this week to pick up another 25 gallons of fresh milk. If you can’t wait until October 1 to pick up fresh goat milk cheese, give us a call or send us an email!

Social Media and Troon North Farmers Market

We’ve also been (a little) active on social media. Use the hashtags (#) below to find us Instagram.

If you haven’t been to the Troon North Farmers Market, we hope you make the trip and come see all the cool things these vendors are offering. Besides Carol’s home-grown, home-made goodies, there’s a wonderful gluten-free baker, a coffee roster selling beans (and hot coffee), local honey, the list goes on. I have to remember to get their website info and link to them. Karma 🙂

RVN Flyer 3The Rio Verde Naturals Online Store

The online store remains open! We’re still getting used to how it works, and working out bugs, but really, so far so good. We’ve decided to leave it up and running, since the markets only happen twice a month, but the garden and goats produce every day. Lots of fresh stuff is available during the week, so don’t wait until market day, if you don’t have to, to pick up your fresh goodies. Visit The Rio Verde Naturals Online Store here. And be sure to ask Carol what she’s got in stock – I can’t keep up with her, putting things into the online store inventory!

Rio Verde Naturals flyer for local UPS Store

RVN Flyer 3Here’s the current Draft of the flyer we’ll be posting at the UPS Store, located at Alma School and Dynamite, Scottsdale. The owner Lori and her team of people are the ones who have worked hard to bring the Troon North Farmers Market to life. We had a great time during this first season of the market, January to May. And we’re looking forward to the market starting back up in September. Subscribe to the Rio Verde Naturals Newsletter and we’ll let you know when the market starts back up.

In the meantime, the garden doesn’t quit growing and Carol doesn’t stop making her yummy preserves and raw goat milk cheeses. So we’ve been working on creating an online ordering and payment system so our wonderful shoppers can keep getting their goodies over the summer at our new pick up location one mile north of Dynamite off 136th street.

Please share the news of our online store and satellite pick up location! Before we lose Carol beneath a pile of Armenian Cucumbers, Purple Hull Peas and Yellow Crook Neck Squash!

Satellite Pickup Location for Local Summer Residents

Summer Sunset in the Rio Verde Foothills and the view from Carol's garden.
Summer Sunset in the Rio Verde Foothills and the view from Carol’s garden.

Just because the farmers markets are closed, doesn’t mean the garden and goats are on vacation.

Summertime is when Carol’s garden is in its glory, all her hard work during the springtime paying off. And the goats are in the top of their season, so Carol is also busy making the cheese her customers love so much.

With so much going on, we felt a Summer Satellite Pickup Location would do two things: Offer local summer residents the ability to keep getting their favorite goat milk cheese or preserve while the Troon North Farmers Market is closed for the summer, AND, give Carol all the time she needs to keep the garden in top condition through the hot summer and making cheese which requires her full attention without interruption.
